Biblical Counseling Psychiatrist in Marion, VA and Online
Incorporating biblical counseling with psychiatric expertise, I offer a faith-based approach that goes beyond man-centered psychotherapy — helping men face everyday challenges with lasting clarity, strength, and hope with the Wisdom of God in Scripture and not the wisdom of man and lab rats.
Tired of empty talk?
Biblical counseling anchors you in God's truth.
Not self-help, but real hope.
This isn’t talk therapy. It’s tactical soul repair.
Many types of counseling focus on managing emotions or finding personal insight. While these myriad methods may help some people some of the time, they often miss the deeper issues of a man’s heart, mind, soul, and strength. As Christians, we believe real and lasting change comes from the Spirit of God using the Word of God ministered by the people of God — not from navel-gazing or “seeking the answer within”.
Biblical counseling uses Scripture to guide you through everyday struggles. It doesn’t just help you cope — it points you to the real hope, real strength, and real answers found in Christ alone and His gospel.
What is biblical counseling?
Simple Explanation:
Biblical counseling is when someone helps you apply what the Bible says about your problems and their solutions. Instead of guessing or using just opinions, we look at what God teaches about living life well, reason, emotions, and choices. The Bible has real answers for everyday struggles, and biblical counseling helps you find those answers and use them to find and maintain joy, grow in grace, and live better—to the glory of God.
For Medical Professionals:
Biblical counseling addresses the spiritual and emotional challenges individuals face by applying the truths of Scripture. Rather than focusing solely on symptom management or behavioral modification, this approach seeks to uncover the underlying spiritual issues that contribute to a person's troubles. By integrating theological understanding with compassionate care, biblical counseling aims to guide individuals toward lasting transformation through a deeper relationship with Christ.
This method involves a thorough exploration of personal experiences, beliefs, and behaviors in light of biblical principles. Counselors work collaboratively with individuals to identify areas where their lives may not align with God's design and to develop strategies for change that are rooted in Scripture. The ultimate goal is not just relief from distress but the cultivation of spiritual maturity and resilience, enabling individuals to navigate life's challenges with faith and hope.
How I can help
Biblical counseling helps you move forward by aligning your thoughts, emotions, and actions with God’s truth. When struggles are viewed through a biblical lens, the path to healing becomes clearer — grounded not in human effort, but in God's wisdom and grace.
Rather than coping with symptoms alone, biblical counseling addresses the root issues of the heart, helping you grow in resilience, wisdom, and strength. With Scripture as the foundation, you can face life’s challenges with clarity, confidence, and a deeper sense of purpose.
What to expect:
Step 1: Comprehensive Evaluation
We begin with a two-hour evaluation to understand your full health picture — including medical history, current struggles, and spiritual needs. This ensures we see both the physical and spiritual sides of what you are facing.
Step 2: Functional Testing and Treatment
Functional medicine testing is completed to identify nutritional deficiencies, hormonal imbalances, or other physical factors affecting brain health. A comprehensive treatment plan can then be developed to resolve these imbalances so your mind and body are properly supported for deeper healing.
Step 3: Biblical Counseling (Optional Add-On)
For patients who desire faith-based support, biblical counseling is available as an option once functional treatment has begun. Using Scripture as the foundation, we address patterns of thought, belief, and behavior, helping you apply biblical truth to the problems of living. Most patients complete biblical counseling over a course of 3 to 4 months.
If you choose to add biblical counseling, we will meet for 50-minute sessions every two weeks. These sessions provide structured support, practical application of Scripture, and accountability as your mind and body heal together. The typical pattern is every 2 weeks for four sessions, then monthly for four sessions with additional sessions added as needed.
Biblical counseling should be Christ-centered and time-limited.
Step 4: Steady Growth and Lasting Change
With your body strengthened and your heart anchored in God's Word, we work toward clearer thinking, greater emotional stability, and stronger spiritual maturity — building a foundation for lasting, not temporary, change.
The world offers many ideas for healing, but true peace and lasting change can only be found in Christ. Jesus said:
"I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6)

Christian therapy often blends biblical ideas with psychological theories. Biblical counseling, in contrast, is fully grounded in Scripture. It does not mix the Bible with secular psychology, but instead relies on God's Word as the sufficient and final authority for addressing the challenges of life.
